Stunning vintage unsigned Native American artisan long multi-stand sterling silver necklace, featuring ten strands of fine "liquid" beads, curved stamped cone tips and hook and eye closure. A beautiful piece on its own, for layering jewelry and/or adding pendants. Strands: 0.1 cm each approx. Approximate era for this necklace is the 1970's, it is in excellent vintage condition with minimal signs of general ageing and wear.
Last photo before I cleaned the necklace to share a tiny part of its journey, possibly on the way to you. I have cleaned this gently with a silver cloth and water. Presented in organic cotton gift bag.
Thank you for looking, more amazing and unique Native American sterling pieces in store now- browse around. I absolutely adore Native American sterling silver jewellery-not only is it beautifully crafted/designed and unusual, the jewellery also often has a deeper meaning behind it; a respect and celebration of life, nature, animals, deities and the human spirit. My knowledge of Native American jewellery is limited but I do research and thought Id share a little about what Ive learned thus far. Native American sterling jewellery is mostly handcrafted using incredible silversmith skills passed down from generation to generation. The pieces can range from the delicate and intricate to the heavyweight and bold and can often incorporate colourful stones (particularly but not limited to turquoise and coral) and fine decorative carved detailing.Stamps on Native American sterling pieces vary a great deal, (particularly pre-1970s where no stamps is quite common) but they can include Sterling stamp only, Sterling & initial stamp and pictograph symbol/s etc. There are some great identifying Native American sterling stamps websites that provide some minimal information and images on the artists stamps/tribal affiliation/genuine & fake stamps etc. But many remain unknown, I do find this disappointing simply because it would be nice to give credit to which artisan has produced such amazing piece/s. I always consider myself very lucky when I can identify an artist as it can lead to finding out more about their history & tribal affiliation.
Native American sterling silver jewellery is highly collectable (particularly signed pieces, older pieces and/or old pawn pieces - originally exchanged for goods & services) and is often in the higher price bracket because of this.
