Vintage Zuni Butterfly Pin Sterling Silver Inlay Native American Jewelry
This exquisite piece is a classic example of mid-century Zuni Pueblo lapidary work. It features a traditional "butterfly" motif, expertly crafted using the difficult stone-to-stone flush inlay technique.

Hand-Cut Stones: Features a vibrant palette of natural Turquoise, Mediterranean Red Coral, iridescent Mother of Pearl, and polished Black Jet. Construction: The stones are set into a sterling silver base with three hand-applied "raindrop" silver beads at the top. Artist Signature: The reverse is hand-engraved with a stylized "V" hallmark.

While the script below is too faint to read, the "V" is consistent with master Zuni families known for butterfly motifs, such as the Vicenti or Luna families. Trader's Pawn Mark: A hand-scratched "21" is visible on the back. This "pawn mark" confirms the piece has a genuine history within the Southwestern trading post system, where jewelry was used as collateral for loans. The pin is in excellent vintage condition with a beautiful, heavy patina. All inlay stones are secure and flush with no chips or missing sections. The original pin-back and hinge are fully functional.
