Vintage Herbert Cayatineto, Navajo or Diné, Rectangular Sterling Silver Trinket or Jewelry Box with beautiful, ornate stamp-work on all sides, including the underside, and a bright blue rectangular turquoise mounted in a micro-serrated bezel on the gently domed lid. Hinged, with a fully-functional clasp front and center; four small silver balls underneath raise the box. Signed on the underside of the box with Herbert Cayatineto's hallmark "HC" and stamped STERLING. A well-constructed Navajo box made from extraordinarily thick sheets of silver, decorated with extensive elaborate stamp-work. Silversmith work of the highest caliber. An exemplary of Navajo silversmithing. 3 5/16" Length x 2 7/16" Width x 1 1/4 Height (from bottom of leg to top of cabochon); Weight 156 g.
